Paul C. Greene

Cruso, Paul C. Greene, age 83, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, November 16, 2023.

A native of Swain County, he was a son of Henry Greene and Bonnie McMahan Greene.  He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lucy and Mildred and two infant brothers, Haynes and Perry.

Paul never met a stranger he couldn’t have a conversation with and he never let worry get the best of him.  He had a knack for storytelling with copious amounts of adventures and experiences to share.  He believed you could figure out how to accomplish any task so long as you set your mind to do so.  Paul lived by this statement by being able to craft anything with his hands, plying his trade as a logger, carpenter, and a stone mason.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 49 years, Brenda J. Reece Greene; four children, Sherry (Barry) Garnes, Brad (Alison) Morgan, Carroll (Amber) Morgan, and Anthony Greene; two sisters, Virginia Pangle and Cricket (Melvin) Hooper; fourteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 19, 2023 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunburst Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.  Paul’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
