Patsy "Pat" Henry

On Saturday, May 31st, we said goodbye to a remarkable mother, grandmother, cherished sister and friend to many, Patsy Ann Moore Henry. Pat was born on July 10, 1949, in Haywood County. Pat was not just an avid gardener; her home was adorned with vibrant flowers every year that reflected her passion for the outdoors. When not gardening you would find her reading, cooking or spending time with her family. Pat said her family was most important.

Pat was preceded in death by her wonderful parents, Bill and Dorothy Moore, and Gladys Grooms.

Pat is survived by her sons, Pike Henry, Dallas Henry (Carla) and their daughter Sadie. Her lifelong partner of over 40 years, John Queen and his daughters, Caroline Ottinger (John) and Camden Nelson (Kent) and their children. Her close-knit relationships with her siblings Brenda Clark, Dianna Moore, Greg Moore and her nieces and nephews filled her life with joy.

For over 16 years, Pat dedicated herself to public service as an Assistant Clerk of Superior Court & Supervisor, where she could be found holding babies while families navigated paperwork. Pat was always known for her incredible work ethic both professionally and personally.

In honor of Pat’s legacy, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army of Haywood County at P.O. Box 358, Waynesville, NC 28786 in lieu of flowers.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, at the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville. Following services a family reception at the Wells Event Center will be from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Private graveside services to follow the reception.
