Obituary

Patrick Davis, age 59, passed away July 16, 2026, following a valiant fight with esophageal cancer in Waynesville, NC.

He called Waynesville his home for the past 8 years but also resided in Knoxville, TY; Omaha, NE; and grew up in Wayland, MI. He valued education, knowledge, faith, community, devotion to family, and mostly wisdom and the belief in a kinder, gentler world.

He accomplished great things in his life with his work in building and educating his community in the art of Grief, Death, and Dying. He believed in providing a softer, gentler way of approaching the dying process and spent countless hours leading his world around him on how to “be present” and “hold space” for those going through the grief process.

He lived every day welcoming others into his life and had the gift of making everyone feel like his best friend—even if he only met you once! His list of friends is too great/exhaustive to put here, plus he made sure you knew if you were one of his “favorites.”

There are no words to express how greatly he will be missed. A light has gone out in the world but the sky twinkles brighter with one more star!

Patrick is survived by a brother, Paul (Sally) Davis; sister’s, Tami (Bob) Fryling, and Teri (Bob) Stone; nieces and nephews: Neal Fryling, Beth Fryling, Adam Davis, Jenelle Pierce, Alex Nousen, and Hunter Nousen; as well as an exhausting list of close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Davis; father, Neal Davis; and a brother, Phil Davis.

A memorial service will be held in Patrick’s honor on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Wells Events & Reception Center, 33 Wells Events Wy, Waynesville, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The care of Mr. Davis has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
