Patricia` Pace

Canton - Patricia Lou "Pat" McElrath Pace, 78, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at The Homestead.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Jake and Hazel Pless McElrath. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Pace, who died in 2007; a daughter, Kimbra Pace Wells; a granddaughter, Shaina Godfrey; and one sister, Betty McElrath Baker. She retired from Haywood County schools as a teacher's assistant with 32 years of service. Pat was a lifelong, active and faithful member of West Canton Baptist Church having served as church clerk for over 50 years, member of the fellowship committee and sang in the church choir.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen Godfrey and husband, John B. Godfrey, Jr., of Arden; one grandson, Cody Wells and wife, Katie, of Weaverville; one great-grandson, Gavin Taylor of Leland; three special nieces, Darlene Sanford and Robyn Burnette, both of Canton and Dianne Jarjoura of Hampton, Virginia; and numerous additional nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at West Canton Baptist Church with the Reverend Jonathan Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
