Obituary

Patricia Fayssoux McMahan, born on March 21, 1951, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home in Candler, North Carolina, on May 26, 2026. Patricia’s life was a testament to compassion, dedication, and love, traits that guided her through an inspiring career and a fulfilling personal life.

Throughout her professional journey, Patricia devoted herself to helping others. She made a profound impact as a phlebotomist, then continued her service as a Certified Nursing Assistant and medical assistant. Her commitment to healthcare and patient care reflected her deeply caring nature and genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of those around her.

Patricia’s love story began at age 14 when she met Wayne, the man who would become her husband and lifelong partner. The couple dated for three years before Wayne joined the US Marine Corps and married Patricia, beginning a union that spanned 58 years. Their bond was a foundation of strength and devotion, most notably demonstrated during Patricia’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease, diagnosed in September 2022. Though the illness progressed from a slow start to a rapid decline, Wayne’s unwavering love and compassionate care never faltered. He stood by her side through every challenge, ensuring her comfort and dignity until the very end.

Family was the heart of Patricia’s world. Her joy extended beyond her immediate family to the beauty of the outdoors, where she found solace and delight in hiking and camping. Whether wandering the serene Blue Ridge Parkway or enjoying the breathtaking beaches of the Outer Banks, Patricia felt a deep connection to nature. She also cherished the companionship of her beloved German Shepherd, Gunnar.

Patricia’s family describes her as “just wonderful” — a fun, caring mother who radiated warmth and kindness. She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Wayne McMahan; three children, Sean McMahan (Angela) of Waxahachie, Texas, Amy McMahan of Greenville, South Carolina, and Rebecca McMahan of Hartwell, Georgia; and seven treasured grandchildren: Cameron McMahan, Aislynn McMahan, Autumn McMahan, Nick Sosebee, Zach Sosebee, Brandon McMahan, and Nicki Kelsch. She also leaves behind her dear siblings: Jenny Saunders, Barbara Carter, Teresa Delizza of Arden, Yvonne Wilde of Asheville, Marc Fayssoux (Vicki) of Forest City, and Thomas Fayssoux of Candler.

Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harry Fayssoux and Barbara Bielinski Fayssoux, and her brother, Peter Fayssoux.

A memorial service is being planned and will be announced at a later date.

In her final moments, Patricia expressed the profound love she held for all around her with her last words: “I love you. I love all of you.” These simple yet powerful words encapsulate a life lived fully, a life of devotion, heartfelt connection, and enduring love. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered as a beacon of kindness and an extraordinary spirit who touched countless lives.
