Patricia Dewitt

June 29, 1947 — July 2, 2018

Waynesville, Patricia Louise Ledford DeWitt, age 71, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018 at CarePartners Solace Hospice Center.

Patricia was the daughter of the late Neal David and Gladys Emma Ricker Ledford. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Nolen Bates, who died in 1990; sister, Cheryl Roten; brother, Neal David Ledford Jr.; son, Raymond Bates; two grandchildren, Cassie Diebert and Anthony Williamson; great-grandchild, Liam Aguilar. Patricia lived in Texas but her roots were in North Carolina. She was a member of the VFW Post 5202 and American Legion 47, in Waynesville, where her father was a past lifetime VFW Commander and her uncle donated the land where the VFW is today. Patricia enjoyed traveling and going to the casino.

Patricia is survived by five daughters, Tina Hatley (Joe), Jackie Furlough (Jeff Fledederjohn), Sheila Smalley (Thomas Rathbone), Brandy Dickson (Kevin) and Christina DeWitt; two sons, David Roten and Christopher DeWitt (Megan Barnette); three sisters, Margaret Jones, Joy McFarland and Carol Bolden; seventeen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the VFW Post 5202.

The care of Ms. DeWitt has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes and an online memorial register is available at "Obituaries" at www.wellsfuneralhome.com
