Patricia Carreño

Canton, Patricia Anne "Patsy" Carreño, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

A native of Dover, Florida she was the daughter of the late Theodore Frederick and Alberta Herndon Heirs; in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Carreño and brother Duane Hiers whom both died in 2017. Patsy was a gifted artist and interior decorator. She enjoyed painting, crossword puzzles and cooking. After her time as an interior decorator with Tarr's Interiors, Patsy worked 20 years in Clyde and Waynesville Wal-Mart. She was a devout parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Church.

Patsy is survived by her daughter, Michele Stevens, and her husband, Randy, of Lexington, Tennessee; three sons, Darrell Carreño, and his wife, Rhonda, of Hendersonville, Richard Carreño, and his wife, Kim, of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Kerry Carreño, and his wife, Anita, of Clyde; brother, Jerry Hiers, and his wife, Lenore, of Tampa, Florida; seven grandchildren, Marisa, Savannah, Hunter, Kate, Clay, Jessica and Brandon; three great-grandchildren, Skye, Lili and Mason.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Becket Soule officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church fellowship hall.
