Canton – Norma Jean Brookshire Clark, 85, of the Cruso Community, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late E. G. and Maude Whitted Brookshire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ervin Clark, who died in 1997; and nine brothers and sisters. Norma Jean was formerly employed at the Pisgah Inn and worked for over 15 years at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by four sons, Carter Clark (Elizabeth) of Canton, David Clark (Donna) of Clyde, Michael Clark (Fran) of Asheville and Bobby Joe Clark of Canton; two sisters, Betty Brookshire and Dorothy Thomason, both of Canton; one brother, Elmer “E.G. Brookshire, Jr. of Leicester; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Tracy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
