Nora Mccoy

Canton – Nora Belle “Doc” Haney McCoy, 97, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Nora Belle was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Robert and Claudia Haney.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cage Allie McCoy, who died in 2002; son, Denny Phillip McCoy; and sister, Genevieve “Crick” Haney Trull.  Doc was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.  She could be found stringing and canning green beans, growing beautiful flowers, and cooking a big meal.  Doc cared deeply for others and spent her life helping those she loved and was a member of The Living Church of Jesus Christ in Cruso.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria McCoy; son, Dale McCoy and his wife, Carolyn; and three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Gwyn Cemetery in Cruso with the Reverend Matt Pruett officiating.

The care of Mrs. McCoy has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Canton.
