Canton – Nick Carroll Reeves, 76, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late L.J. and Gladys Reeves Massie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charlie Carroll Reeves, who died in 1993. Nick was a United States Army veteran stationed in Berlin. He began his working career with Champion Papers and retired from Blue Ridge Paper in 2004 with over 38 years of service. Nick loved classic cars, car shows and riding his motorcycle. He was an avid participant in Toys for Tots Run. Nick loved his family and was a wonderful husband and father. Most of all, Nick loved his Lord and continually thanked God for his many blessings and was a faithful member of Canton First Baptist Church.
He is survived his wife of 50 years, Katie Fish Reeves; two brothers, Wallace B. and Charles B. Massie, both of Waynesville; two aunts, Fannie Reeves Thomason and Ruth Benfield. His favorite “PurraMedic” TabiGail, his caregiving Tabby Cat.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Canton First Baptist Church with the Reverend Court Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.
