Nathaniel "Nathan" Forest Scruggs

Nathaniel "Nathan" Forest Scruggs, 37 of Waynesville, NC, departed this life unexpectedly on October 30, 2025, leaving behind a tapestry of memories woven with music, laughter, and a warmth that resonated with all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was born on May 12, 1988, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, to Ronald Parker Scruggs II and Kelly Lynn Ferguson, both of Waynesville, NC.

Nathan is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, "Poppa" Johnny Mack Ferguson, and his paternal grandfather, Ronald Parker Scruggs Sr.

A devoted father, Nathan cherished his role as a parent to his beloved daughter, Gwen Scruggs. His spirit was richly infused with love, mirrored in the bonds he navigated with care and tenderness. Nathan's family—comprising his father Ronald Parker Scruggs II, his mother Kelly Lynn Ferguson, his maternal grandmother "Granny" Barbara Mauldin (Tony), his paternal grandmother "Gertrude" Martha Rector (Ned), and his uncles, John Taylor Ferguson and Steven Scruggs, alongside his aunt Cindy Owen—will forever hold the essence of his kind heart within their lives.

As the owner-operator of WNC Spa Repair, Nathan was not just a skilled craftsman but an individual who never met a stranger. His warmth transcended conventional boundaries, creating connections that felt vibrant and real, a testament to his generous spirit.

To honor Nathan's vibrant presence and spirited nature, a Celebration of Life will be held on November 9, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Cedar Room at Laurel Ridge Country Club in Waynesville, North Carolina.

The family encourages attendees to wear vibrant colors, a fitting tribute to Nathan’s colorful spirit, and for fellow Sublime fans to proudly don their favorite tee, as he would have wanted to celebrate together, as one big family united by music and love.
