Nancy West

Canton – Nancy Daves West, 82, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at home.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Roby and Dessie Bryson Daves.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. West, who died in 2013; two brothers, Ray and Gerald Daves; and two sisters, Jean Daves and Frankie Robinson.  Nancy was a true matriarch of the West family, a steadfast wife for 57 years, loving mother, and supportive grandmother.  She found great joy in all types of music and dance.  Nancy and J.T. were western dancers, cloggers and members of the Pisgah Promenaders.  She was an avid Charlotte Hornets fan with her favorite player of all time being Muggsy Bogues.  Nancy was a young soul who touched so many hearts.

She is survived by two sons, Ronnie West and wife, Bernadette, of Canton and Jerry West and wife, Angela, of Thomasville; one sister, Edith Gillett of Canton; seven grandchildren, Desiree Ruggiero (Daniel), Ronald W. West II, John Herschel West, Emily and Landon Byerly, C.J. Linville, and Savannah Kindley; and three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Taylor, and Maddox Ruggiero.

A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 31, 2019 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Matt Pruett officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until 12 noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
