Nancy Wells

Canton – Nancy Medford Wells, 95, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.

Nancy was a native of and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Wayne and Fannie Chambers Medford.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Wells, who died in 2012; and three sisters, Kathleen Muse, Janet DeBrucker, and Ethel Stewart; and two brothers, Charles and Robert Medford.  Nancy was a graduate of Clyde High School, a member of Central United Methodist Church, and retired from Haywood County schools with 20 years of service.

She is survived by a daughter, Jan Wells Grove (Michael) of Canton; son, John Thomas Wells, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Belmont; a sister, Beulah Zumwatt of Pasadena, Texas; two brothers, Harold Medford (Wilda), and George Medford, all of Clyde; three grandchildren, John Anderson Cayton, Lauren Ashley Wells (Kitch), and Thomas Cameron Wells; and one great-granddaughter, Wells Madison Kitch.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road with the Reverend Erin Yow officiating.
