Nancy Lou Hall Watson, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, Nancy was born February 19, 1942, a daughter of the late Alfred Dillard Hall and Bonnie Scott Hall.

Nancy was a graduate of Canton High School and a lifelong member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. She dedicated her career to D.O. Creasman, where she worked as a technician. While her work was an important part of her life, Nancy’s greatest gifts were found in the love and care she gave to others.

Nancy was, quite simply, one of the sweetest people you could ever meet. She had a tender heart and a generosity that seemed to know no bounds. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome, and her home was a place where there was always room for one more. Nancy was a mother to everybody, not because she had to be, but because caring for others was simply who she was. She welcomed people with open arms and had a gift for putting a smile on both your face and your heart.

She found joy in the simple things that made life beautiful. Nancy was an avid reader and loved feeding the birds, tending to her flowers, and caring for cats. Her love for cats extended to a collection of cat figurines that reflected one of the many things that brought her happiness.

Nancy was also an exceptional cook, and few things brought her family greater pleasure than sitting down to something she had prepared. Her chocolate eclairs, chicken and dumplings, blackberry jelly, and chow were among the many things her family treasured, not simply because they were delicious, but because they were made with love. For Nancy, feeding people was another way of caring for them.

Those who knew Nancy will remember her gentle spirit, her generosity, her welcoming home, and the countless ways she made others feel loved. She had a heart big enough to make everyone feel like family, and for many, she truly was family. Her absence will leave a space that cannot be filled, but the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts and lives of those she touched.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Clyde Watson, in 2002; her sister, Shirley Marie Hall Fish, in 2010; her brother, Joe Howard Hall, in 2019; her niece, Katrina Hall Parrott, in 1986; and her nephew, Ronnie Fish, in 2004.

Nancy is survived by her nieces and nephews, Kim Howell (Keith) and Raquel Fish; great-nieces and great-nephews, Nicole Jamison (Matt), Patrick Fish (Kassie), Brent Powell (Betty), Amanda Mann, and Mikalah Fish-McCall; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Ronnie Mann, Anna Powell, Trevor Fish, Cameron Powell, Orion Mann, Connor Jamison, John Fish, Lane Surrett, and Emeri Surrett; and her beloved cousin, Brenda “Blondie” Wensil. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews from her late husband’s family, all of whom she loved as her own.

A memorial service to remember and celebrate the life of Nancy Lou Watson will be held at Wells Funeral Home in Canton on Saturday October 3, 2026 at 3:30 p.m., with Pastor Gene Worley officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service.

Nancy gave so much of herself to the people she loved. She welcomed, she nurtured, she fed, she encouraged, and she loved. Her legacy is not measured in what she accumulated, but in the people who felt cared for because Nancy was in their lives. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

The care of Mrs. Watson has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
