Nancy Rhoades

Waynesville, Nancy Carol Banner Rhoades, 74, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at her residence.

Nancy was born in Pennsylvania and was a former resident of Florida before moving to Haywood County in 2004.  She was the daughter of the late Wade Hampton and Pearl Waldren Banner and was also preceded in death by her husband, John A. Rhoads, Jr. who died in 2006.  Nancy graduated with honors from Stetson University Law School and was Valedictorian of her class.  Nancy and her husband, John, were partners in their own law firm.  She was an animal activist and enjoyed serving on the board of SARGES Animal Rescue Foundation.

Nancy is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Addy and Theresa Boyle and her husband, Scott, all of St. Petersburg, Florida; three sons, John Rhoades and wife, Sandy, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Ron Rhoades and wife, Cathy, of Bowling Green, Kentucky and David Rhoades; and seven grandchildren, Hanna, Kalin, Lindsay, Katie, Nicole and Jennifer Rhoades and Tiffany Isselhardt and her husband, Michael

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Brian Williams officiating.  Burial will be at the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, North Carolina.

Memorial may be made in her memory to SARGES Animal Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 854, Waynesville, NC  28786.
