Mildred Keener

Waynesville, Mildred O. Strickland Keener, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at CarePartners Solace Center.

Mildred valued making a cheerful home for her big family and this was her life’s biggest accomplishment.  A native of Madison County, she was a woman of many varied interests.  Mildred enjoyed the challenge of puzzles, maintaining a beautiful garden, and shopping.  This proud member of Hemphill Baptist Church had much love for all her grandchildren.  Many fun memories were made at family meals at her favorite restaurant, Shogun.

Mildred is survived by her four beloved children; daughters, Wanda "Jane" Keener and Brenda Keener Jones, and her husband, Blaine; sons, Bobby Ralph Keener and Randy Eugene Keener; six grandchildren, Crockett Jones, Willie Jones, Bryan Keener, Christina Silvers, Max Keener, and Callie Keener; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben Strickland and Lacy Packett Strickland; dear husband, Ralph Keener; and loved son, Rev. Freddy Keener.

A funeral service will be held from at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerry Nelson officiating.  Burial will follow at Poplar Gap Cemetery in Madison County.
