Mildred W. Jackson
Mildred Wright Jackson-91, a native and lifelong resident of Candler, NC passed away after a period of declining health Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 while in the loving and compassionate care of Maggie's Place where she had resided for the past 1 ½ years.

She was a daughter of the late Aaron B. and Connie Morgan Wright. Her husband Hobert Jackson, son, Russell L. Jackson, three sisters, Wilma Hyatt, Thelma Rutherford, Sue Fletcher, and two brothers, Darrell and Carl Wright preceded her in death.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by one sister, Mrs. Lou Reed of Candler; grandson, Russell "Russ" Jackson Jr. and wife Betsy and their children: Whitney Jackson, Jamison Jackson, and Josh Penick all of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; granddaughter, Diane Ellis of Pensacola, Florida; grandson, David Dixon of Dallas, Texas: one niece, seven nephews, and her longtime, close friend Christine Crook.

Mrs. Jackson was a former employee of American Enka Corp., a homemaker, and for many years, an avid quilter. She was a joyful and loving Christian, and since 1949, a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend G. W. Jameson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Candler. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Moriah Wesleyan Church Cemetery Fund, 1 Fairmont Road, Candler, NC or Maggie's Place, PO Box 2199, Candler, NC 28715.
