Melissa Dawn Clayton, age 44, passed away on March 21, 2026, in Flat Rock, North Carolina.

Born on December 24, 1981, in Buncombe County, North Carolina, Melissa was the daughter of David Hammond. She will be remembered for the life she lived and the memories she shared with those around her. Melissa loved to sing hymns at the Ahava House, who is run by Jennifer Horton, where she was a resident for the past five years, where she was deeply loved and cared for by all the staff there. She met the love of her life, Maurice, who adored her greatly for the past two years.

Melissa leaves behind her daughters Jasmine Clayton and Madison Clayton; son Tim Clayton; her aunt Lou Hammond who took great care of her; father David Hammond and ex-husband Jerry Clayton.

Though her time here was far too short, her presence touched the lives of many who knew and loved her. She leaves behind cherished memories that will be held close in the hearts of her family and friends.
