Melissa Dawn Clayton, age 44, passed away on March 21, 2026, in Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, North Carolina.

Born on December 24, 1981, in Buncombe County, North Carolina, Melissa was the daughter of David Hammond. She will be remembered for the life she lived and the memories she shared with those around her. Melissa loved to sing hymns with her friends. Mt. Moriah was Melissa's home for the past five years and many thanks to Jennifer Horton, Administrator of Mt. Moriah. Melissa was deeply loved and cared for by Mt. Moriah staff and many friends there. We have deep gratitude for the staff and residents of Mt. Moriah and Four Seasons Elizabeth House.

Melissa was pre-deceased by her beloved aunt, Lou Hammond, who took great care of her throughout her life. Melissa leaves behind her daughters, Jasmine Clayton and Madison Clayton, son Tim Clayton, four grandchildren and Marquis, the love of her life for the last two years.

Though her time here was far too short, her presence touched the lives of many who knew and loved her. She leaves behind cherished memories that will be held close in the hearts of her family and friends.
