Maxine Medford
Waynesville, Maxine Medford, age 83, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at her residence.
A native of Haywood County she was a daughter of the late Charlie Boone and Bessie Allen Medford. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, James "Jimmy" Carlton Moody; brother, Harold Medford "Bill"; and her twin sister, Rubine Smathers. There is one quote that summarizes Maxine Medford, "For everything we are today, our mother’s love showed us the way." Maxine would always put others before herself, an amazing caregiver, she touched the lives of so many. For fun, Maxine enjoyed eating out with her son and best friend, Trent. She also looked forward to relaxing car rides.
Maxine is survived by a daughter, Glynis Moody Summey, and her husband, Mike, of Canton; two sons, Charles Barry Moody and Daniel Trent Hord, both of Waynesville; sister, Emogene Powell, of Waynesville; brother, Ray Medford, of Clyde; sister-in-law, Noretta Medford, of Cleveland, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Anthony Moody and Austin Moody, Kelly Kelley (David), Michael T. "Lil Mike" Summey and Shay Summey; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Ryan Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow at Buchanan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
