Mavis Henson

"1938 – 2016" Canton – Mavis Ann Henson, 78, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at The Homestead in Clyde. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Verlyn and Bessie Cordelia Wooten Henson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Weldon and Robert Henson; and one sister, Hilda Mann. Mavis was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by four sisters, Lillian Clark of Waynesville, Nancy Wilson of Candler, Mary Lou Henson (Vanise), and Betty Henson, both of Canton; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Henson also of Canton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Matt Rhea officiating. Burial will follow at Long's Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:45 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service.
