Mary Woodward

"1949 – 2017" Huntersville, NC – Mary Meglone "Meg" Woodward succommed to renal failure at the Huntersville Oaks nursing home in Huntersville, NC on May 21, 2017. She was born in Greenville, SC on September 13, 1949 to Mary and Joseph Woodward of Charlotte, NC and is survived by her sister, Susan Woodward Molpus and her husband, Frank of Denver, NC; and one niece, Kerry Deese and husband, Nic, of Mauldin, SC.; and a great-nephew, Kenneth Deese. After graduating from high school, her family moved to Charlotte and Meg entered Mars Hill University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. She dearly loved her alma mater and the life-long friends she made while there. She spent most of her career as a pre- school teacher in church related schools. Additionally, she worked as a life guard and taught swimming and worked at new Life summer camp. Her walls and Bible remained filled with pictures of children whose families have kept in touch through the years. Meg had a great love of life. Most important to her were her relationship with Jesus Christ and her dear friends. She moved to Haywood County in 1975 where she was an active member of Canton 1st Baptist Church and instrumental in the children's program especially helping with scripture memorization. She move to Charlotte in 2011 due to medical issues and to be nearer her sister. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Mars Hill Baptist Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
