Mary Elizabeth Taylor

Mary Elizabeth Taylor, a beloved member of the community, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, in Cumberland County, North Carolina. Born on February 25, 1946, in Buncombe County, Mary lived a remarkable life filled with love and dedication to her family and faith.

Mary's true calling was creating a loving home for her family. For over four decades, she stood as a pillar of strength and support for her husband, Pastor Troy Taylor. Together, they shared a beautiful journey as a loving couple for an impressive 59 years. Mary's role as a pastor's wife had a profound impact on the lives of many she touched throughout her life. To those who knew her well, she was affectionately known as "Sister Taylor."

As a devoted member of the Church of God, Mary lived her life with unwavering faith and an unmatched devotion to God. Her spirituality served as an inspiration to all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her.

Mary had an incredible capacity for love and kindness that extended beyond her immediate family. She cherished her children and embraced the joys and challenges that came with parenthood. Her daughters Lisa Mann (Marty), Cindy Smith (Brent), and Teresa Taylor, as well as her son Troy Taylor Jr., will always remember their mother's unwavering love and support.

In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, Mary was also blessed with the gift of siblings whom she held dear in her heart. She is survived by three sisters: Loraine, Carolyn, and Joan. Their bond was unbreakable, anchored by shared memories and unconditional love.

Mary was also fortunate to experience the joy of being a grandmother to five grandchildren: Chris Wood, Gabbie Mann, Taylor Mann, Garrett McNally, and Mica Yost. Their vibrant laughter brought immense joy into her life. Furthermore, she was blessed with six great-grandchildren: Hayden, Zoey, Jaiden, Harper, Liam, and Hudson, who filled her days with boundless love and countless smiles.

Even though Mary has passed on from this earthly existence, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

To honor and celebrate Mary's life, a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Hicks officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
