Mary Sue Caldwell Gentry, 86, of Maggie Valley, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Jarvis and Wilsye Trantham Caldwell.

Sue retired from Dayco in 1997 after over 24 years of employment. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Maggie Valley. Her family and friends will remember her making delicious biscuits, cooking, sewing, and working in her flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Lee Gentry; brother, James “Lucky” Caldwell; and sisters, Maggie Cagle, Wilma Jones, and Nellie Morrow.

She is survived by her sisters, Hazel (Frank) Rich and Barbara (Garland) Cagle and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, December 7th in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home, Waynesville with Rev. Glenn Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until the time of service. Burial will take place at Turner Cemetery, Maggie Valley. Serving as Pallbearers will be Joe Jones, Bill and William Sutton, Luke, Levi, and Burton Smith. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Doug West, James Corn, Jim Carver, Brayden Bryant, and Terry Morrow.
