Mary Sue Crawford Wright, a devoted homemaker and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home in Canton, North Carolina, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on January 16, 1935, in Jackson County, North Carolina, she lived a life rich in love, family, and creativity.

Sue took immense pride in her role as a homemaker, nurturing her family in a loving environment. She was a source of inspiration and strength for her three daughters, Donna Allen of Cleveland, AL, Sandra Parker of Canton, NC, and Sherry Neighbors of Belgrade, MT; and her son, Fred Wright (Sandra) of Canton, NC. She was also a cherished grandmother to ten grandchildren, Thomas Towers, Dee Dee Curry, Randy Surrett, Delina Stracuzzi, Jason Parker, Dara Boeger, Berton Neighbors, Taylor Neighbors, Laurel Wright, and Zachary Wright; 17 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Roberts, Elaine Allison, Sally Galloway, and Thelma Edwards; and two brothers, Lewis Crawford and Ray Crawford. She touched their lives with her warmth and kindness and fed their souls with gravy and biscuits.

Throughout her life, Sue enjoyed a range of hobbies and interests. She had a passion for sewing, quilting, and canning, skills that not only showcased her creativity but also contributed to the cherished traditions of her family. Additionally, Sue held a deep appreciation for old country and bluegrass music, which often filled her home with joy. As a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in Canton, she actively participated in her church community, further exemplifying her commitment to her faith and family.

Sue's legacy is one of love and resilience, strengthened by the bonds and memories created throughout her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her parents, A.C. and Nellie Derrick Crawford, as well as her husband, Herman Fred Wright, who passed away in 2002. Sue also mourned the loss of a granddaughter, Miranda Parker, and nine siblings, who she held dear.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Sue's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery in Clyde, North Carolina with Chaplain Yoshiya Takahashi officiating.

Mary Sue Crawford Wright’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family and friends. Her enduring spirit, compassionate heart, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
