Mary "Peggy" Franklin Ruff Dietz

Waynesville, Mary "Peggy" Franklin Ruff Dietz, 97, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Autumn Care of Waynesville.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late George Wiley and Maria West Franklin.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Ruff, who died in 1992 and second husband, Ray Dietz,  (2006); son, Allen Ruff (2022); daughter-in-law, Wendy Ruff (2022); sister, Betty James; four brothers, Jim, Paul, Richard and Robert Taylor Franklin.  Peggy was a member of Francis Cove Methodist Church, where she was the first President of the Woman’s Group.  She worked in retail and enjoyed sewing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Peggy is survived by two sons, Dennis Ruff, and his wife, Margaret and Tony Ruff; two grandchildren, Brad Ruff (Jamie) and Chuck Ruff (Annette); seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Francis Cove Methodist Church with Reverend Sharon Davis officiating.  Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
