Mary Edwards

Canton – Mary Nancy Gregory Edwards, 65, passed away on May 15, 2019 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

A resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mildred Medlin Gregory.  Mary was a 1972 graduate of Pisgah High School.  She was a traveling military wife for 19 years and was the owner and operator of the Mountain Home Collection in Waynesville which was her pride and joy for over 25 years.  She had a passion for creativity and always willing to lend an ear and a helping hand.  A devout Christian, she loved her family with all of her heart and played the role of loving Mother and Nana better than anyone in the world.  Her spirit always so full of love, hope and generosity will be missed by everyone who met her.

She is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Newcomb and husband, Mathew, of Canton; a son, Charles Jason Edwards and wife, Roberta, of Clyde; and seven grandchildren, Avery, Addyson, Ashtynn, Caleb, Samuel, Noah and Hannah.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Caleb Simmons and Reverend Heath Davis officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to every individual that gave a helping hand to Mary during these difficult last few months of her health journey.
