Mary Calhoun

Waynesville, Mary Frazier Calhoun, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at The Homestead.

A native of Haywood County she was the daughter of the late W. R. and Iva Snyder Frazier. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Calhoun; three brothers, Bill Frazier, Jr., Thomas Earl "Red" Frazier and M. H. "Dude" Frazier. Mary was a seamstress and worked with Hale's of Waynesville for 20 years. Mary spent most of her adult life doing what she loved, designing and making clothes. She could take a piece of cloth and transform it into art. Mary was also a gifted painter. In her later years she enjoyed canvas painting and gifting her art to her friends. She was fiercely independent and above all, a devoted mother, grandmother and friend.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Janet Chambers, and her husband, Ronald, of Canton; son, Cliff Calhoun, and his wife, Margie, of Newnan, Georgia; two sisters, Margaret Jenkins, of Hendersonville and Nina Allison, and her husband, Billy, of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Ryan Chambers, and Mary Melissa Chambers.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2017 at Green Hill Cemetery with Reverend Steve Frazier officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. at Wells Events & Reception Center following the service.
