Mary Cagle

Waynesville, Mary Smith Cagle, age 77, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 15, 2020, she passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at home.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Lucy Burnette Smith.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Ford and Patricia Conard; and three brothers, Ed, Robert and Ben Smith.

Mary is survived by her husband, of 58 years, Doyle Cagle; son Tim Cagle (Renee), of Waynesville; two daughters, Cindy Raiola (Ron), of Fletcher and Jennifer Rigdon (Rick), of Bethel; two brothers, Joe Smith (Wilma) and John Smith; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.  Mary was known for a generous heart.  She loved spending time with her family, especially when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came for visits.  Mary was a member of Woodland Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 23, 2020 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Lynden Hall officiating.   Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. at WNC State Veterans Cemetery on Monday.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.

The care of Mrs. Cagle has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
