Mary Burnette

Mary Sue Branson Burnette, age 91, died Friday, October 24, 2008 at her daughter's residence. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Alfred Washington and Lillie Miller Melton. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gordon Lee Branson, who died in 1988; her second husband, Clayton Burnette, who died in 1998; a sister, Lila Sanford, and a brother, James Melton. Mary Sue was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Rowe and her husband, Richard, and Judy Nelson and her husband, Charles, all of Greenville, SC; one brother, Charles Melton of Raleigh; seven grandchildren, Dick Rowe, Donna Taylor, Kristi Luffman, Will Taylor, Logan Taylor, Chuck Nelson, and Barry Nelson; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2008 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Darrell Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgeway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
