Waynesville, Mary Sue McCracken Balentine, age 82, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late William Claude and Lenora Best McCracken. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Hillry Balentine; two brothers, Louis and Spencer McCracken; two sisters-in-law, Vanda McCracken and Doris McCracken; three brothers-in-law, Billy Crowley, Robert Shook and Larry Chambers; a niece, Sandra McCracken; and three nephews, Bobby Shook, Andy McCracken and Geoffry Shook. Mary Sue was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and retired from First Citizens Bank with over 40 years of service.
Mary Sue is survived by three sisters, Lois Crowley, Emelyn Shook and Ruth Chambers; a brother, Ralph McCracken; sister-in-law, Linda McCracken; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers that gave her such loving care.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Heath Davis and Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

The care of Mrs. Balentine has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
