Marvin Cain, a devoted pastor and talented artist, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 26, 2025, at the age of 88. Born June 30, 1936, in Springfield, Ohio, Marvin's life was a tapestry woven with faith, service, and creativity.
From a young age, he felt a calling to guide others on their spiritual journey. This led him to a remarkable career that spanned continually into the hearts of many communities. He began his ministry in Mason, Ohio, where his gentle spirit and steadfast dedication to his congregation quickly left a lasting impact. His journey then took him to Alliance, Ohio, where he further deepened his commitment to his faith and those he served.
In a bold move across the country, Marvin continued his pastoral work at Bell Gardens Church of God in Bell Gardens, California. His warmth and insightful teachings garnered respect and admiration, as he engaged deeply with his parishioners. Seeing an unfinished school standing in Daytona Beach and having a vision of the finished school, beckoned him to Daytona Beach, Florida. He saw the school through and being finished with grades K-12. He embraced the community at White Chapel Church of God, ultimately concluding his ministerial journey at New Covenant.
An academic at heart, Marvin earned a Doctorate of Theology, which complemented his gift for preaching and inspired many to seek a closer relationship with the Lord. Yet, the breadth of his talents reached far beyond the pulpit. Marvin was an artist and a fantastic wood carver, skillfully transforming raw materials into beautiful creations that reflected the depth of his spirit. He took great pride in his Cherokee heritage, frequently sharing stories of his ancestry, which illuminated his sense of identity and belonging.
Marvin leaves behind his beloved daughter, Roxanne Youhess (Don), who carries forward his legacy of love and faith. He has now joined the embrace of those who have gone before him: his father, Asie Peyton Cain; his mother, Phoebe Rapp Cain; his cherished wife, Rebecca, who left this world in 2009; his grandson, Christopher Mavin Snow, who left this world in 2016; and his sisters, Pauline Cain Tingley and Patricia Cain Sauders.
Marvin Cain will be remembered not only for his unwavering faith and pastoral care but also for his artistic spirit and commitment to family and heritage. His laughter, wisdom, and love will echo into the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him, as they carry the torch of his teachings into the future.
The care of Mr. Cain has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville
