Martin Freed

Maggie Valley, NC-Dr. Martin I. Freed, age 63, of 1850 Evans Cove Road, died Thursday, June 2, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Baltimore, Maryland and the son of the late Frank and Hilda Caplin Freed. He was a resident of Haywood County for four years and previously resided in Ocala, FL. He was a graduate of George Washington University, in Washington, DC and the University of Maryland. He was associated with Freed & Seymore Orthopedic Surgeons and practiced medicine for 29 years, at Monroe Hospital and Marion Community Hospital in Ocala, FL. He was a member of the Marion County Medical Society, Florida Medical Association, American Medical Association and Temple Beth Shalom in Ocala and Temple Beth Israel in Asheville. Dr. Freed also enjoyed reading and spending time with his son. He is survived by his wife; Linda Little Freed, of Maggie Valley; one son, Ephraim David Freed, of Maggie Valley; one sister, Marilyn Blitman and her husband Harold, of Atlanta, GA; one niece Stephanie Korman, of Atlanta, GA; two great nieces, Danielle and Haley Korman; and one aunt, Jeanne Cohen, of Baltimore, MD. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 6, 2005 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, with Dr. Walter Ziffer, officiating.
