Martha Murray

Canton – Martha Jean Conley Murray completed her journey to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 8, 2017. She was called from labor to reward after an extended illness in Winston-Salem, NC. Martha was born on May 24, 1930 to the late John and Phyllis Conley in Canton, NC. "Beigee" as she was affectionately known to family and friends was preceded in death by her son, Donny Murray; a daughter, Gloria Murray; three brothers, John Calvin, Cecil, and Joe Louis; and four sisters, Margaret Conley, Laura Williams, Faye Conley, and Lucille Shelby. Martha accepted Christ at an early age. She is a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. She attended Stephens Lee High School in Asheville, NC and she was a retired employee from the American Enka Company with over 25 years of service. Martha was a devoted and loving sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and mother-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Holiday and husband, Nathaniel, of Winston Salem, NC; two granddaughters, Tiffany Murray of Atlanta, GA and Natasha Murray of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Mary Johnson of Queens, NY and Vallree Burton and husband, Edward, of Asheville, NC; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Murray of Winston-Salem, NC; a sister-in-law, Winona Walker of Canton, NC; two devoted nieces, Cathy Herron and her husband, Darryl, of Winston-Salem, NC and Sandra Burton of Asheville, NC; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved dearly. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at The Church of God of Prophecy in Canton, NC with the Pastor Pam Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford-Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
