Martha Henson

Cruso - Martha Rebecca Burke Henson, age 65, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Lewis and Pauline Cody Burke. She was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas Burke and one sister, Peggy Burke. Martha was a member of Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church where she sang for over 40 years in the choir and also in a quartet. She enjoyed cooking for her friends and family. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dewey Henson; two sons, Stanley Henson and his fiancé, Becky Stewart, of Fletcher and Tim Henson and his wife, Renee, of Cruso; one step-daughter, Peggy Reece and her husband, Ronnie, of Lake Logan; two step-sons, Terry Henson and his wife, Nancy, of Cruso and Tony Henson of Canton; one sister, Audrey Allison and her husband, Howard, of Sylva; three brothers, Melvin Burke and his wife, Shirley, Joe Burke and his wife, Bonnie, and Butch Burke and his wife, Charlotte, all of Palatka, FL; three grandchildren, Brandi, Blake, and Brittany Henson; seven step-grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Wells Funeral Home of Canton with Pastor Jake Cagle officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. At other times, the family will be at her residence.
