Marques Carrington

Clyde, Marques Delaufayette Carrington, 64, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

A native of Gainesville, Georgia, he was the son of the late Charles Carrington, Sr. and Elizabeth Mattox Carrington.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Karrion Rucker and Ruth Carrington; brother, Danny Carrington.  Marques was employed as a Lab Tech with Evergreen Packaging for the past 45 years.  He was a member of Central Haywood Church of Christ.  Marques was county known as a supporter of the local schools and youth sports.  He enjoyed fishing and spending quality time with his wife.  Marques loved to dance, he was a family man, and loved teaching life lessons to family and all.  Most importantly he had a great affinity of spreading God’s word with a bright and warm smile.

Marques is survived by his wife of 42 years, Frances Carrie Burgess Carrington; two daughters, Carmello Carrington Baker (Garret) and Tara Carrington Best (Stephen); son, Marchello Carrington (Alma); three sisters, Deborah Golden (Rufus), Gwen Moore (Edward) and Betty Carrington; four brothers, Charles Carrington, Jr. (Oneida), Gordon Carrington (Vita), Curt Carrington (Debra) and Antonio Carrington (Angie); four grandchildren, Braylon Baker, Briayle Baker, Elena Carrington and Jayce Best; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Central Haywood Church of Christ with Preacher Jeff Arnette officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Central Haywood Church of Christ.

The care of Mr. Carrington has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
