Mark Hollingsworth

Waynesville, Mark Ellsworth Hollingsworth, age 93, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022, at CarePartners Hospice.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late W.H. and Grace Farmer Hollingsworth.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Davis; and two brothers, James and Carmel Hollingsworth.  Mark was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean war.  Mark retired from Dayco in the shipping department with 37 ½ years of service and after retirement he worked with the county for several years.  He enjoyed farming and was salt of the earth and a very hard worker.

Mark is survived by his wife of 66 years, Hilda Parks Hollingsworth; daughter, Martha Mills (Clyde); son, Tim Hollingsworth (Heather); two sisters, Hazel Hollingsworth and Betty Harris; granddaughter, Sheila Mills-Mode (Ryan); and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2022, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating.  Burial will follow at Green Hill cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spring Hill Baptist Church, 1918 Murray Road, Canton, NC 28716.

The care of Mr. Hollingsworth has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
