Marjorie Stamey

Waynesville – Marjorie Smathers Stamey, 84, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at her residence.

Margie was a native of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Rufus and Inez Derrick Smathers.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Stamey; brothers, Gene, Gordon, Kenneth, and Bud Smathers; sisters, Carene Lewis, Bessie Wood, Mildred Medford, Dorothy Clark, and Phyllis Roper.

Margie retired from Eckerd Drug and was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by two sisters, Judy Smathers and Pat Nix; several nieces and nephews; step-daughter, Tina Reyes and Matias; and step-grandson, Dakota Stamey.

A special thank you and appreciation to friends:  Sam and Wanda Pressley, and Kenneth and Tina Stines.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The care of Mrs. Stamey has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
