Marjorie Pless

A kind and gentle soul, Marjorie Anne Pless, 89, of Asheville, NC, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 22, 2022, under hospice care at The Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Clara McGinnis; sisters, Sarah and Betty Jean; brother, Jack; husband, Francis and daughter, Judy.

Beloved wife, mother, nurse, teacher and friend to many, she was a woman of strong faith and character thinking of others first.  She always had a kind word and focused on the positive in everyone.  She and her husband, Francis were generous givers of time and resources to others.

Anne graduated from Charlotte Memorial Hospital Nursing School in 1954.  She worked as a R. N. for many years at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville where she was especially compassionate about patient care. Her caring and loving heart poured into her bedside manner nursing skills.

From 1973 – 1997, she worked for Buncombe County School System at A. C. Reynolds High School as a health occupations instructor where she thrived in teaching students and developing interest in careers in the health field.  She touched many young lives and was a great influence on many of her former students with her dedication and passion for their growth and success.  She volunteered with the American Red Cross where she enjoyed teaching CPR and first aid.  In her retirement years, she along with Francis focused on genealogy research in histories of both families.  She was a member of Groce United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret, brother, Frank and son, Dave and his wife, Sabrina.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Bethel Community Cemetery with Charles D. Pless officiating.

The care of Mrs. Pless has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
