Canton – Marion Calvin Sprinkle, 100, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
Marion was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She was a resident of Haywood County for most of her life and the daughter of the late Earl and Lou Calvin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Sprinkle; a son, Ronnie P. Sprinkle; son-in-law, David O. West; brothers, Earl Calvin, Jr., Reverend James Calvin, and John Calvin; sisters, Thelma Calvin Bonner and Winifred Calvin Price.
Marion had an enduring love for her family and cherished the times she was able to spend with them. She was a member and former Sunday school teacher of First Baptist Church of Canton. She spent many enjoyable hours playing Bridge and was an avid golfer. Marion also enjoyed participating in the Canton Garden Club. In retirement years, she and her husband, J.L., had many years of enjoyment at their residence in Florida at Indian Lake Estates.
She is survived by a daughter, Lorene S. West; daughter-in-law, Nancy B. Sprinkle; her brother, Roger Calvin; grandchildren, Page Truesdale and husband, Sid, Amy Lowery and husband, Kevin, Carrie Thomason, and Cyndy R. Rape and husband, Jason; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Parker Truesdale, Jake and Chandler Lowery, Louci, Lila, Sarah, and Shep Thomason, Reeves, Mason, and Blakely Rape; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be gathering for a private remembrance at the residence of Lorene West.
