Marie Mccracken

Waynesville, Marie McCracken, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late John and Virginia Sheehan Ashe.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bobby McCracken and two brothers, John and Joseph Ashe.

Marie was employed for many years as a dietician aide at Haywood County Hospital and Canton Health Care.  She was proud to work in the healthcare field knowing she was helping care for her community.  Some of Marie’s favorite activities included gardening, getting good finds at flea markets, and playing bingo.  She loved all her family and will be greatly missed by all of them.

Marie is survived by her companion of 30 years, Jackie Glenn; daughter, Kim Reece (Johnny); son, Joel McCracken (Bonnie); sisters, Sarah Gibbs and Eunice New; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 in the Chapel of Faith at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Reverend Rick Stanford officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.

The care of Mrs. McCracken has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
