Maria Christina "Chris" Kroot, 79, passed away peacefully on July 28th , 2026.

Born August 1, 1946, to Anthony and Margherita Laurenzana, Chris devoted her life to her family as a loving wife and mother. She also worked as a hairdresser and bookkeeper for the family businesses.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Kroot, and her son, Rod Kroot.

She is survived by her son RJ Kroot and his wife Cynde; her daughter-in-law Samantha (widow of Rod); and her cherished grandchildren Nathan and Aspen (children of RJ), and Mya and Ayla (daughters of Rod and Samantha).

A Celebration of Chris's life will be held at Lake Junaluska's Memorial Chapel-Room of Memory on October 3rd at 10:00 a.m., with lunch to follow at Harrel Room 105. Address: 91 N. Lakeshore Drive, Lake Junaluska, North Carolina 28745.
