Maria Amaryllis Courtney, 78, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, at Silver Bluff Village in Canton, North Carolina, with her sister, Linda, by her side. Born on June 14, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Maria was the daughter of the late James and Lillian Wizimirski Courtney.

Maria was a talented technical writer who dedicated more than 20 years of service to Fannie Mae. A graduate of Cabrini College with a degree in Journalism, she also worked in California with Apple during her professional career. Maria had a true passion for writing, especially fiction and adventure stories, and she deeply loved rabbits. Maria treasured her travels across the United States. Maria also loved the excitement and charm of the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.

She is survived by her loving sister, Linda Brody and nephew James March.
