Margaret Tompkins

Waynesville, Margaret Davis Tompkins, age 94, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at The Homestead.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Vinson and Ethel James Davis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Tompkins, who died in 2012; daughter, Carol Ziglar; grandson, Eric Morrow; eight sisters and brothers. Margaret was a member of Crabtree United Methodist Church and she enjoyed reading.

Margaret is survived by three daughters, Sharon Cooper (Jim), of Clyde, Barbara Meliski (Buck), of Chimney Rock and Susan Baker (Brad), of Roseland, Florida; a brother, Bill Davis, of Clyde; three grandsons, J. Meliski, Mark Meliski and Anthony Cooper; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Crabtree United Methodist Church with Reverend Devere Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Dawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
