Margaret Bell

MARGARET J. BELL

Waynesville-Margaret Jones Bell, age 93, of 80 Fairview Heights died Monday, January 13, 2003 at her residence.

A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late James P. and Mary Etta Lands Jones. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Remus M. Bell, who died in 1960; a son, James W. Bell; a brother; and three sisters. She was a member of the Home Extension Club and enjoyed gardening, crafts, and reading. She was also a member of Hazelwood Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Catherine Gibson, and her husband, Thomas, Sr., of Leicester and three grandchildren, Thomas J. Gibson, Jr. and his wife, Gwen, of Lenoir, NC, Cathy G. Matheson and her husband, David, of Asheville, and Heather Gibson of Savannah, Georgia; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Jonathan Matheson and Caryn and Julia Gibson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Tilley officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Thomas J. Gibson, Jr., Gerald Sluder, Lawson Summerow, and David, Zachary, and Jonathan Matheson.

Memorials may be given to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 262 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or Hazelwood Presbyterian Church, 368 Hazelwood Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786.
