Marcus Rhymer West

Marcus Rhymer ("Mark") West of Canton, NC died peacefully in his sleep at Smoky Mountain Health & Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, January 25, 2024. He was 91 years old (born on July 5, 1932) and was a lifelong resident of Canton and a former employee of Champion International Paper.

Mark is survived by his daughter, Paige Liford Davis and Paige’s husband, John Davis; his son, Marcus Holland West and Holland’s wife, Deborah Stites West; his daughter-in-law, Karen Corzine West Stanley and Karen’s husband, Dan Stanley; his five adult grandchildren (Adrianne English West Todoran, Nicole Holland West Revis, Jessica Bell West, Allison Holland West, and Taylor Stites West); and his nine minor great-grandchildren.

Mark was predeceased by his longtime companion, Anna Ruth Liford; his son, William Jeffrey West; his parents, Jessie Mae Rhymer West and William Henry West Sr.; and his brothers, William Henry West Jr. and Charles Franklin West.

Mark’s private burial will take place at Canton’s Bon-A-Venture Cemetery (Clyde Road).

The care of Mr. West has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Canton.
