Mafra Peek Crisp

Candler, Mafra Peek Crisp, age 98, peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at her residence.

A native of Western North Carolina, Mafra was part of a large family of ten children born to Ervin Peek and Lockie Farmer Peek.  She was also preceded in death by her dear husband, Wade Turner Crisp, who died in 2001; granddaughter, Theresa Blynt; grandson, James Lewis; and eight siblings, George, Chris, Dallie, Wayne, Nell, Bill, James, and Maggie.

Creating a happy home and raising her children was her life’s biggest accomplishment.  A proud member of Ridgeway Baptist Church, Mafra was very pleased to live a long life to see the generations grow and thrive.  She so enjoyed being called Granny Mae by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Surrett and Shirley Lewis (Jimmy); son, Dale Crisp (Pat); sister, Janette Dockery; five grandchildren, Sheila Zackary (Ben), LaDonna Eby (Chris), Heather Tobin, Chris Lewis (Shannon), and Danny Crisp (Kay); thirteen great-grandchildren, Haley, Clay, Ivy, Tucker, Katie, CheyAnne, Tyler, Cooper, Conner, Riley, Ethan, Hunter, and Amber; and five great-great-children.

A private service will be held.

The care of Mrs. Crisp has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
