Canton – Harold Mack Warren, 89, of the Lake Logan Community, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at his residence.

Mack was a native and had resided most of his life in Haywood County.  He was a son of the late Garland and Pearl Reece Warren.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Claude, G.L., and Grady Warren; and five sisters, Donnie Inman, Genevieve Vance, Tulan Rogers, Bonnie Vance, and Beatrice McFalls.  Mack was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and a member of Riverside Baptist Church.  He was the owner of Superior Barber Shop in Canton from 1964 – 1974 and Warren’s Barber Shop in Bethel until he turned 80 and retired in 2013.  Many will remember Mack for being a barber to the shut ins and residents in nursing homes and hospitals.  He was a farmer, excellent fisherman and a great friend to many dispensing wisdom and counsel to many.  He was Dad to some, Mack to his friends, and “Uncle Mack” to many.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alees Whitaker Warren; two sons, Larry Warren (Margaret) of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Keith Warren (Tracy) of Candler; two sisters, Rose Ann Stinnett (Charles) of Orange Beach, Alabama and Peggy Sue Boykin of Aiken, South Carolina; brother, Ray Warren (Sarah) of Clyde; four grandchildren, Claudia Locklear, Rachael Phifer (Andrew), Margaret Warren, and Taylor Nye; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Steve Frazier and Reverend Dr. Mike Odom officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United States Army.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ramp Building Ministry, c/o Riverside Baptist Church, 2171 Lake Logan Road, Waynesville, NC  28786.

The care of Mr. Warren has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Canton.
