“Loving Grandfather”

Waynesville, Terry Lynn Truitt, 78, of Waynesville, North Carolina passed away November 21, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in Haywood County, NC on November 15, 1940.  He was a Sembach Missileer in the US Air Force and a member of the 38th Tactical Missile Wing Mace and Matador Missile Programs.  He also coached Little League Baseball and was a former long-time member of the Tuscola Athletic Booster Club (Big T Club).  He retired from Dayco Southern in 1997 after 35 years.

He was predeceased by his mother, Lola Page Ferguson, and stepfather, Frank D. Ferguson, Jr.  He was also predeceased by his father, Clinton Moss Truitt, and a sister, Sandra Truitt Rider.

Lynn is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joy Wells Truitt of Waynesville; two sons, Tom Truitt (Melissa) of Waynesville and John Wells Truitt (Martha) of Biltmore Lake, NC; three grandchildren, Brandon Truitt of Greenville, NC, Austin Truitt of Cullowhee, NC and Katie Truitt of Fairfax, VA; two step-grandchildren, Luke Kinsland (Holly) and Lyndsey Kinsland, of Canton, NC.  He is also survived by a sister, Martha Sue Truitt.

A private service for family will be held at Green Hill Cemetery at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tuscola Football Black Helmet Fund, P.O. Box 1832, Clyde, North Carolina 28721.

The family would like to thank Dr. Barton Paschal, Dr. John Stringfield, Dr. Charles Thomas and all staff members. We would also like to thank Haywood Hospice and Palliative Care with a very special thank you to Stephanie Jones.
