Lucille Davis

Clyde, Lucille Arrington Davis, age 89, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Nellie Bradley Arrington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover H. Davis, who passed away in 2011; a sister, Hazel Bishop; and three infant siblings. She was a hairdresser and owner of Lucille's Beauty Box in Clyde. Lucille was a member of Woodland Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher and director of WMU. Lucille loved spending time with her grandchildren and also enjoyed cooking, canning and working in her flower garden. She is survived by two daughters, Grovene Dowell and her husband, Danny, of Asheville and Hilda Ippolito and her husband, Joseph, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; three sisters, Pauline Massie and Betty Greene of Clyde and Dorothy Allison and her husband, Don, of Kernersville; one brother, Gene Arrington, of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Kisha Donahue, Jason Dowell and wife, Margie, Christa Williams and husband, Jess, and Gregory Leveto; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Davis and Reverend Bobby Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Dowell, Gregory Leveto, Jess Williams, Mitchell Massie, Craig Bishop and Don Davis. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
