Lucile Scott

Waynesville, NC, Lucile Ruth Jones Scott, age 94, of 428 N. Welch Street, passed away on Wednesday, July 6 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A native of Graceville, Minnesota, she previously resided in Billings, Montana before moving to Haywood County in 1999. She was the daughter of the late Claude Franklin "C.F." and Edna Laura Brown Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A.J. Scott, and a sister, Ethel E. Welch. She and her husband owned and operated Scott Fur Company in Billings, Montana. A member of First Congregational Church in Billings, she later attended Long's Chapel United Methodist Church in Waynesville. Lucile was an active member of the PEO Sisterhood both in Billings and locally and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Billings. Lucile was a talented craftsperson making world-class quilts and will be remembered for her amazing green thumb. She is survived by a son, John Nickerson and his wife, Jane, of Waynesville; a granddaughter, Shae Kelley, of Salt Lake City, Utah; and three great grandchildren, Evan and Alexis Elliot of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Miles Elliot of Denver Colorado.
